College Lectureship in Philosophy (part-time)

St. Peter’s College invites applications for a fixed-term College Lectureship in Philosophy (part-time) for a period of one year starting on 1 October 2017. The lectureship will provide replacement teaching for Professor P J E Kail, who will be on research leave during that time. Applicants should have submitted, or be close to submitting, a doctoral dissertation in Philosophy.
The person appointed to the post will be expected to teach the equivalent of four hours of tutorials and classes for the College each week during the term, worked out on the expectation that students will be taught in pairs. He or she will also be required to share the administration of teaching and the direction of undergraduate studies in Philosophy, to take a full role in undergraduate admissions in December 2017, as well as to set and mark College examinations (‘collections’).
The appointee will be expected to teach the General Philosophy section of the first-year Prelims paper. He or she will also be expected to deliver tutorials in the Early Modern Philosophy FHS (Final Honour School) paper. An ability to teach one or more additional Finals papers might be called upon were it present.
Salary £8,684 - £9,767 per annum
