A new opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer to join the Faculty of Philosophy and to be closely involved with the wider Humanities Division Finance Team, helping out or undertaking projects as appropriate.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the finances and research activities of the Faculty. You will promote the smooth running of the financial administration of the Faculty and its research projects, including faculty-run conferences. The Faculty of Philosophy is a busy faculty, with a high research profile and a complex portfolio of activity. The role will involve daily contact with academic and administrative staff, as well as students, externals and, occasionally, auditors.

The post is responsible for the day-to-day management and training of a Finance Assistant.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will have a proactive approach to the role. Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), you will have relevant financial management experience, good IT skills, the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and understand how to handle confidential matters with discretion. Experience of grant/financial management within an academic environment and experience of University finance systems is desirable.
