Departmental Lecturership at New College
We are delighted to announce the appointment, with effect from 1 October 2010, of Dr Joseph Melia to a Departmental Lecturership in Philosophy at New College. The Lecturership is a two year replacement post for Professor Timothy Williamson, who has been awarded a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship. The main focus of the post will be to provide graduate supervision, in particular for the Faculty’s BPhil students.
Dr Melia held a Lectureship in Philosophy at York University between 1996 and 2000. Between 2000 and 2009, he held a Lecturership followed by a Readership in Philosophy at Leeds University. His main philosophical interests are metaphysics, particularly ontology; modality and philosophy of logic; philosophy and foundations of physics; and philosophy of mathematics. He is currently working on a book, Not Very Much, in which he defends the view that there are only concrete particulars.
