The Faculty is deeply saddened to report the death of Derek Parfit, who passed away on 1 January 2017 at the age of 74.
Derek was a longstanding member of the Oxford Philosophy Faculty, Fellow of the British Academy, Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College and Global Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at New York University. He had also held appointments at Harvard University and Rutgers University.
