| Description | Ben Bradley (Syracuse): ‘A Defence of Hedonism’ to be held in the Lecture Room, 10 Merton Street, Oxford - Seminars in Moral Philosophy webpage Abstract In this paper I defend hedonism about well-being. Hedonism, roughly, is the view that pleasure is intrinsically good for us and pain is intrinsically bad for us, and (more controversially) that nothing else is intrinsically good or bad. I defend hedonism by showing that its main competitors share a fatal flaw: they cannot make sense of the notion of being well-off at a time. |
