| Description | Raffaele Rodogno (Aarhus) 'Emotions and Morality' to be held in the Lecture Room, 10 Merton Street, Oxford - Seminars in Moral Philosophy webpage Abstract I consider a number of proposals aiming at defining or characterizing moral wrongness, blameworthiness, or reprehensibility, on the one hand, in terms of appropriate occurrences of guilt and/or anger, on the other. I present novel (and partially empirically informed) grounds to think that these proposals cannot get off the ground. I then explore the extent to which the lessons learned from the case of guilt and/or anger, extend to accounts of morality that are sentimentalist and pluralist (insofar as they appeal to a whole host of emotions). |
