Marion Durand (Oxford): The Stoics on Past and Future Truths
The Stoics have been said to believe that true propositions about the future are true by virtue of a present truthmaker. I suggest that this view is problematic and argue that we can do away with the need for present truthmakers for past and future propositions if we better understand the sophisticated Stoic theory of tense operators.
Please note that attendance is limited to Faculty members.
Meetings will be held in the Lecture Room in Radcliffe Humanities and lunch will be available in the Ryle Room from 12pm until 2pm.
