Newly appointed Head of Technical AI Engagement joins Oxford University's Institute for Ethics in AI

The Institute for Ethics in AI welcomes Vincent Conitzer as a member of the research team. He joins as Head of Technical AI Engagement. Vincent is primarily known for his work in artificial intelligence (AI), especially its intersection with game theory, social choice theory, and mechanism design. He works on the problem of automated moral decision making, and is broadly interested in ethical, societal, and policy aspects of AI. Vincent also works on foundational questions of how we should think about AI "agents" and this connects to formal epistemology - especially problems such as the Sleeping Beauty problem - and in turn to philosophy of mind and metaphysics (why *this* experience?).
