Global Priorities Seminar (Week 2, TT18)
When people buy products or pursue self-interested goals, they take care to make cost-effective choices, but when they donate to charity, they don't. Why is that? Why don't people donate effectively? We are empirically investigating the psychological barriers to effective giving by analysing people's biases, motivations and misconceptions surrounding charitable giving. A deeper understanding of these limitations will help us to develop countermeasures.
