Where else to visit

As a Philosophy prospective student, you should be sure to visit the department for your partner subject, where there will be opportunities to meet staff and students and to attend talks. For example:

  • Literae Humaniores (Classics): Classics Faculty
  • Computer Science and Philosophy: Department of Computer Science
  • Mathematics and Philosophy: Mathematical Institute (Andrew Wiles Building)
  • Physics and Philosophy: Department of Physics (Martin Wood Complex)
  • Philosophy, Politics and Economics: Manor Road Building (Politics and Economics)
  • Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics: Life and Mind Building (Experimental Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics talks and events)

Locations can vary, so always check the official timetable before your visit.

Planning your visit

There is no single “Philosophy Open Day”. To explore your options fully, you should:

  • Attend talks and events for your partner subject
  • Visit relevant colleges
  • Visit the Faculty of Philosophy stand

To plan your visit, please refer to the official Open Day information and timetables.

You can also check which colleges offer your chosen course here.

Colleges

Colleges provide opportunities to meet tutors and students. Most events are drop-in, but some require booking, please check college timetables in advance via the Open Days page.

Visits outside of the Open Days

We regret that it is generally not possible to arrange ad hoc visits for interested applicants, and strongly encourage attendance at one of the Open Days. They are by far the most efficient way of gaining an understanding of the Oxford student experience.
